This document contains technical intelligence information on this type of equipment. The equipment was captured as a course of battle and it in some cases has suffered battle damage ranging from mild to severe. The reader is reminded that this report is a preliminary one and the information herein may be subject to change by subsequent reports/sources. This document was produced by the Military College of Science, School of Tank Technology in March 1943. From an enemy publication it appears that the M.11/59 was developed by Ansaldo for street fighting in the Spanish Civil War. The design has many features which make it unsuitable for modern requirements. The basic armor is thin, and the main armament has limited traverse only, the 3.7 cm. gun being an old Vickers design. Mechanically, however, the tank has many features to recommend it. The compact "V" type Diesel engine is a good feature, although the tank would appear to be underpowered. M.I. 10 Technical Summaries quote the horse power as 105. We have communicated with Hr. Ricardo, who in peacetime was consulting engineer to the Fiat Company (the engine is a product of S.P.A. who are a subsidiary of Fiat), and he informs us that the engine incorporates a Comet head.
