Though interrupted by the Kuwait Emergency, Belfast completed a refit in Singapore dockyard which she left on 5 August. With Caesar, Carysfort, Crane, St Bride's Bay and RFA Wave Master, she sailed through the Torres Straits to the Great Barrier Reef. The squadron met the Australian Fleet in the Coral Sea where the joint exercise, TUCKER BOX, took place.
