The United States military forces were actively involved in World War II between 1941 and 1945. During this period, American service members went through various types of training, including hand-to-hand combat. The U.S. Army developed a standartized field manual FM 21-150, to instruct the soldier how to deal with an enemy up close. In addition to this field manual, other Army groups developed courses in hand-to-hand fighting. The course developed by one of these groups is the subject of this book.
Taken from declassified photographs, this course in hand-to-hand combat was taught at Fort Benning to paratroopers going to fight in World War II. The course was designed and taught by Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu expert Steven J. Byzek, who later served in the O.S.S. in northern Africa (Аутентичный рукопашный бой со времен Второй мировой войны),
